The next iteration of Windows is on its way. The latest rumor making the rounds in the blogosphere is that Microsoft will provide Vista users with a free upgrade to Windows 7 when it becomes available.Full availability of Windows 7 is still a mystery, but Microsoft is also tight lipped on the subject of a free upgrade.

One of the Microsoft presenter has said “Microsoft often explores options with our partners to determine product offerings; we are not announcing anything new at this time.”

Adding fuel to the fire is a post from TechARP, a Malaysian blog. The site posted what looks like a rollout timeline (http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=609&pgno=1) for Vista users that want to upgrade to Windows 7. According to the document, users who buy Vista machines between July 1, 2009 and January 31, 2010 will be eligible for the free Windows 7 upgrade.

  1. I wish if microsoft could give people free windows 7 for people who buy or upgrade to vista for these editions
    Vista basic: 7 basic
    vista premium: 7 premium
    vista professional: 7 professional
    vista ultimate: 7 ultimate

  2. I agree, microsoft should give vista users a free upgrade to Windows 7 to show appreciation to their customers who stuck with using vista which keep crashing and locking up.
