25 years ago on November 20th 1985, Microsoft released first version of Windows operating system. Today Windows is celebrating it’s 25th birthday and lets all wish a Happy Birthday. The first version, Windows 1.0, was not really a full fledged operating system but it’s the first graphical user interface from Microsoft that sits on top of MS DOS and let you manage PC. In the past 25 years, Windows evolved a lot and revolutionized the way we use personal computers.
Windows 7, the current version of Microsoft Windows,is the most popular and user friendly operating system that runs on almost 90% of personal computers. Windows 8, the next version of Windows is expected to be available in couple of years time and its rumoured to focus bringing cloud computing to desktops.
Hats off to Microsoft Windows team for developing a product that holds 90% of the market for the past 25 years. It’s not an easy task for any business for being an undisputed leader for 25 years. Windows is truly a great product.
